L&D, recruiting for internal workforce will not going to be sufficient to tap into the required resources. Workforce for the future will be defined as being much broader than it is today. Given the scarcity of required skills companies will need to look beyond the boundaries of the company to access critical talent. That means they need to be able to access the freelance population (gig economy), crowdsource communities, and to be able to partner in a sustainable and effective way with other companies to access and retain critical talent. They need to manage these talent pools across the internal and external world in a fluid, flexible and up-to-date manner.
